Aloha Favorites

Just a few of my favorite everyday things when I was in Hawaii.

Never left home without it! LOVE!, Cross- body bag random purchase from TJ Maxx small leather tote that held my essentials ie. bus pass, money, lipgloss, phone and camera., Foot wear my "slippers" flip flops purchased at an ABC store. Walked everywhere in these.

Sad to say, I am home. I had the best time in Hawaii. I now know were I want to retire. I am determined to have a home close to the beach. I'm talkin' walking distance. I told Aidan that I found the house I want him to buy for me. It's a shack really. Beach front, on the east side of the island. If I go back early next year, I want to live in Waikiki. I looooved walking everywhere. I took the bus to work, but I walked everywhwere else. It reminded me of when I lived in New York City. Great experience for more reasons then I can say. Can't wait to go back.

 

Hawaiian Sunset

The sun was setting and I was in my apartment. Normally the light simply begins to fade, but this was different. The sun was lower in the sky but still very bright. I grabbed my camera and headed to the beach. I really missed my big honkin' Canon. My trusty little Kodak will just have to do.

Do you hear that?.....Listen.....hear that hisssss. That's the sound of the sun kissing the horizon. Aloha!

Then I went grocery shopping.......This was all after I came from church, dad.

Good Morning

I have wanted to find a good breakfast spot since I have been here. I am not fond of waiting in line for breakfast, so eggs n things is not on my radar. There are long lines EVERYDAY! I hear if you want the eggs n things experience you must arrive before 7am. I will stop in before I leave, just to see why people insist on eating there. I had to go to the post office yesterday and I past Tomo. He handed me a coupon for Cream Pot.

Perfect! I'm all over it. It is a cute place, with a French country-ish decor. There is outdoor seating and this morning was so beautiful I could have eaten there. I ate at the long table in the center of the room. There is plenty of elbow room so that wasn't a problem for me at all. I was seated quickly. The wait staff was very accommodating. The specials were explained to me, I was handed a Menu and a little booklet that had pictures of everything, just in case. I went with one of the specials. The "Off The Wall Eggs Benedict." It was very tasty. The poached eggs where perfect. If you are a eggs benedict purest, do not order this dish. There is no hollandaise sauce in sight. It is very sweet with the carmel sauce, but it is nicely balanced with the egg and salty bacon. Yumm! My meal came to $22.58 without tip.

Hey Dad, this would be a nice place for you to visit during your stay. It is a bit pricey, so don't make it a habit.

I Reach!

Actually this is not a kitchen, it's a food prep area. This doorway is only about 5.5' tall. I would have to duck down or I would hit my head. Can't really appreciate it unless there is an average sized person standing beside it.

Orientation

We have all been to them, or should I say through them. They can last all day long. The corporate orientation, such a complete waste of a day. My orientation in Maine was all on the computer. My eyes were burning watching all those videos. Taking all those tests. This orientation consisted of a check of my documents and TB test and then a bunch of videos and presentations by young ladies who looked terrified.

Afterwards I walked around downtown a while. Found a really awesome art supply store and then I caught the bus for home. I changed my clothes, grabbed my lei and headed out!

More later! Right now i'm heading out to get my nails did. I am going to the "Ladies of the Eighties" concert tonight in Honolulu. Should be fun! later y'all.
